our story

foster + melville architects was established in 2011 in Wellington when the 30-years old practice of Comeskey Grant Melville Architects (CGM) merged with Foster Architects. As of April 2025 Foster + Melville Architects has been passed to the next director team – Amanda and Jorle.

Our projects range across of all of New Zealand,  focusing on a wide multi-disciplinary client focused approach. We’re lucky enough to work at a variety of different scales, and within a range of industries, with a selection of specialties that drive our projects – human-centric design, sustainable solutions, seismic strengthening and heritage.

We have a commitment to quality architectural & contextual sensitivity solutions – we focus on achieving the end goal, without studio hierarchy, or individual ego on projects.

We offer service through all phases of the architecture and building process, from pre-concept through to post-occupancy, and can advise on and coordinate with consultants and contractors before and during the build.
